Forever Green Initiative

On Wednesday, the House Agriculture Finance and Policy Committee discussed HF 661. This bill would give a grant of $5 million to the Forever Green Initiative from the University of Minnesota.

The Forever Green Initiative is a program that works to develop new crops and cropping systems that improve water and soil quality. The University of Minnesota has brought together farmers, scientists, and entrepreneurs to help create more efficient agricultural practices that will benefit the environment and farmers. One of the primary goals of the Forever Green Initiative is to bring new economic opportunity to rural Minnesota.

I support this initiative, and I am a co-author of HF 661. I believe we need to consistently develop our agricultural practices to make sure that we are good stewards of the land. We must also find new farming opportunities that are economically beneficial to farmers across Minnesota. The Forever Green Initiative works to develop renewable agriculture systems that will benefit farmers and create more economic opportunity.
