REP. MILLER: END DISTRIBUTION OF “CUTIES”

Wednesday, September 23, 2020

St. Paul – Today, Rep. Tim Miller (Republican-Prinsburg) sent a letter to Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison regarding Netflix’s film, “Cuties.” Rep. Miller’s letter is attached.

“The despicable Netflix film, ‘Cuties’ blatantly sexualizes children,” said Rep. Miller. “I believe Attorney General Ellison must take action to ensure the safety of children everywhere. Specifically, I have requested that General Ellison ask Netflix CEO Reed Hastings to cease distribution of the film. Additionally, I am requesting an independent investigation to determine whether the distribution of the film violates Minnesota statutes.”

The Attorneys General of Texas, Florida, Ohio, and Louisiana have called on Netflix to cease distribution of the film.

Rep. Miller concluded, “The abuse of children is horrendous and unacceptable. Netflix’s decision to produce and distribute ‘Cuties’ is an assault on the innocence of childhood. Movies like this destroy essential boundaries by conditioning children to think they are sexual beings. This leads to the child exploitation and trafficking I have fought against since I was first elected to the legislature. Decent people everywhere should be outraged that a massive media empire is unabashedly peddling such content.”
