St. Paul – Today, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed S.F. 47 by a vote of 77-55. This bill provides local government aid and financial reimbursements to counties, cities, and towns related to COVID-19 expenses. Rep. Tim Miller (Republican-Prinsburg) voted in favor of this bill.

“Our communities have been severely damaged by the recent economic shutdown, and they need our help,” said Rep. Miller. “Politics as usual attempted to kill this important bill. Despite many unrelated spending items being added to this bill at the last minute, I voted ‘yes.’ I know we can do better in the future, but our communities need this money now.”

The bill contains money for localities across the entire State of Minnesota. The population of each county, city, and town is a significant factor in determining how much money each locality will receive. Attached to this press release are several spreadsheets indicating how much money each locality will receive if this bill is signed into law.

“There are a lot of games being played with this bill. We need to pass it without all the extras piled onto it. The Senate did their job. Now the House needs to live up to the agreement,” said Rep. Miller. “This is a great opportunity to make our counties, cities, and towns whole. We cannot let politics get in the way and adjourn before this is signed into law.”
