New Farm & Rural Helpline is on call

Tuesday, December 19, 2017

ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Department of Agriculture recently established a Farm and Rural Helpline, a resource Rep. Dale Lueck, R-Aitkin, said could help those facing a variety of challenges in Greater Minnesota.

The MDA created this helpline as a one-stop-shop of sorts for farmers to access to get referrals for mental health services, financial counseling, legal help and other resources that stressed farmers may be seeking.

“Farming a very challenging endeavor,” Lueck said. “The stress of dealing with many factors beyond one’s control ranges from what Mother Nature dishes out to constantly changing market conditions. That generates a lot of stress. It’s important that we make available the very latest information and help to those that work in this very demanding environment. The helpline is designed to provide that assistance. I strongly encourage those facing challenges to pick up the phone and explore what options may be available for their specific situation.”

The helpline is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling toll-free (833) 600-2670.
