Tuesday, February 02, 2016

Dear Neighbor,

The calendar is quite full these days as I continue meeting with local citizens to collect input in preparation for the 2016 session. Below is a quick rundown of what is in store over the next several days. I hope you have a chance to join us for one or more of these events. These are great opportunities to talk about a variety of important issues.

Wednesday, Feb. 3

I will be joining Sen. Carrie Ruud tomorrow for three informal listening sessions in Crosby, Deerwood & Aitkin as follows:

  • 9-10 a.m. – Heartwood Center (500 Heartwood Drive, Crosby)

  • 11-12 a.m. – Deerwood Township Hall (20782 State Highway 6, Deerwood)

  • 1-2 p.m. – Aitkin Public Library Conference Center (110 First Ave. N.E., Aitkin)

Friday, Feb 5

Reps. Tom Hackbarth, Josh Heintzeman and I invite deer hunters, all-terrain vehicle riders, snowmobilers, fishing enthusiasts, and advocates of other outdoor sports to attend a pair of listening sessions in Merrifield and Aitkin to discuss areas of interest to sporting enthusiasts.

  • 1 p.m. – Merrifield Marathons Snowmobile Club (21135 County Road 3, Merrifield)

  • 6 p.m. – Aitkin Public Library Conference Center (110 First Ave. N.E., Aitkin)

Tuesday, Feb 9

Rep. Heintzeman and I invite parents and child care providers to attend a listening to discuss the challenges of accessing child care in Greater Minnesota. Rep. Mary Franson, R-Alexandria, chairs the newly formed Select Committee on Affordable Childcare and will be in attendance.

  • 6-8 p.m. – Central Lakes College cafeteria, (501 W. College Drive, Brainerd)

I'll be back soon with more news. Until then, hope to see you at one of these meetings.
