Lucero1

Each month Rep. Lucero sends out congratulations letters to the parents of newborns because celebrating the sanctity of life is so important. Thursday last week Rep. Lucero personally signed over four-dozen letters for new births in January.

REDISTRICTING

Tuesday last week a state court judicial panel released the new map redrawing the boundaries of all House and Senate legislative districts statewide. In redrawing the districts, the judicial panel announced they utilized a ‘least change’ approach which meant the panel made the fewest major alterations to existing districts as possible while also accomplishing needed adjustments based on population changes.

The current district I’ve had the privilege of serving in the MN House of Representatives the last eight years is 30B. The newly released legislative map changed the designation of our area to House District 30A, added Rockford Township, and shrunk that portion of Otsego included within the boundaries of the new 30A. The new 30A will consist of Rockford Township, Hanover, Saint Michael, Albertville, and the western half of Otsego. The addition of Rockford Township to the new 30A district is absolutely a great fit due to the mutually shared values of all the residents of the newly created district. A map of the new 30A district can be found at the following link here.

I will continue the privilege of serving and working hard for the current 30B district the remainder of 2022 which includes Albertville, Hanover, Otsego, Saint Michael, and the Wright County portion of Dayton.

Rep. Lucero invited to a show in Bloomington Wednesday last week to discuss the 11 different bills he has chief authored this session to protect medical freedom against mandatory vaccinations, vaccine passports, vaccine discrimination, and more.

SOUTHWEST LIGHT RAIL

The dumpster fire known as Southwest LRT continues to be a plague on taxpayers. The frustration of the construction delays and cost overruns have resulted in bi-partisan calls for a financial audit of the project. Following is a link to a Session Daily article which can be found here.

Making matters even worse, the Star Tribune reported yesterday the Southwest LRT construction is the likely cause of a watermain break which flooded the adjacent Calhoun Isles condominium parking garage. That news article can be read at the following link found here.

THANK YOU TO SEN. MARY KIFFMEYER

Last week Sen. Kiffmeyer announced she would not seek re-election in November. Below is a statement I released upon learning the sad news:

REP. LUCERO THANKS SEN. KIFFMEYER

FOR HER MANY YEARS OF SERVICE

SAINT MICHAEL, Minn. – State Rep. Eric Lucero, R-Saint Michael, thanked Sen. Mary Kiffmeyer, R-Big Lake, for her many years of service after she announced Friday she will not seek re-election to the Minnesota Senate in the November 2022 general election.

“Sen. Mary Kiffmeyer is one of the hardest working, wisest, and most experienced people I know,” said State Rep. Eric Lucero. “Sen. Kiffmeyer has poured decades of her life into fighting for constitutional values and inspiring others to greatness during her time in office as current State Senator, former State Representative, and former Minnesota Secretary of State.”

Sen. Kiffmeyer served eight years as MN Secretary of State from 1999-2006, four years as State Representative from 2009-2012, and ten years as State Senator from 2013-2022.

“I’ve had the true privilege as State Representative working side-by-side with Sen. Kiffmeyer these last eight years partnering with her in the Legislature fighting for the betterment of our great community,” Lucero said. “Sen. Kiffmeyer has been a mentor and I’m among the many who are honored to call her friend.”
