Feedback on $7.7B Surplus

Monday, February 7, 2022

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Activities were in full swing week one of the 2022 Legislative session! I’ve already received several hundred communications from people weighing in with their feedback. Well over half of the messages I’ve received thus far are people urging the return of the budget surplus. I fully agree and major tax cuts across the board are among the priorities I’m fighting for this session.

"It was an honor meeting and speaking with the estimated 800 people attending the 'Health & Parental Rights Rally' at the MN Capitol last week," said State Rep. Eric Lucero. "I'm 100% committed to continue the ongoing fight for truth, medical freedom, and parental authority against those who abuse power and violate our God-given constitutional liberties!"

DEMOCRATS LOCK THE HOUSE

Law abiding Minnesotans from across the state gathered at the Capitol for the ‘Health & Parental Rights Rally’ Thursday last week to exercise their constitutional rights of freedom of assembly and petitioning the government for redress of grievances. In a shocking display of partisanship, arrogance, and zero notice, Democrat leadership responded by locking the doors to the House of Representatives public gallery blocking House gallery access to Minnesotans who support health and parental rights. This is just the latest in a multitude of examples of Democrat abuse of power trampling on the rights of others simply because Democrats disagree with the message. Incredibly shameful!

PUBLIC SAFETY

Law enforcement, pubic safety, and the major violent crime spike across the metro area as a direct result of criminals emboldened by Democrat efforts to defund the police are among the high priority issues to resolve. It is slightly encouraging Gov. Walz finally recognizes his folly and failings while violent crime spiked on his watch by offering at least a handful of token, pro-police legislative proposals.

As a member of the House Public Safety Committee, I will continue my focus on increasing accountability for criminals and addressing the revolving door of repeat offenders released to recommit more crimes with few or zero consequences by judges and prosecutors who choose not to enforce laws and penalties already set in statute.

CAUCUSES

Thank you to everyone, Republicans and Democrats alike, who participated in grassroots politics by attending precinct caucuses throughout our state last week. One alarming development that must be addressed is the Democrat Party's move to illegally allow ineligible voters to fully participate in precinct caucuses.

The move by Democrats is in direct violation of state law. Minnesota Statute 202A.16 is unequivocally clear: “Only those individuals who are or will be eligible to vote at the time of the next state general election, may vote or be elected a delegate or officer at the precinct caucus.

House Republicans sent a letter to Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison urging him to take action to prevent Democrats from breaking the law and undermining the integrity of our elections. As expected however, Ellison turned a blind eye. A full copy of the Republican letter can be found at the following link here.
