Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I wish blessings to you as you spend time with family and loved ones this Independence Day weekend! Our great country is unique in world history in the recognition of the truth liberty is bestowed to each individual by our Creator and we celebrate the wisdom and courage of our Founding Fathers who forged a county that affords equal opportunity to every person in pursuit of their happiness.

The program will provide grants up to $10,000 to small businesses that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees are eligible. Half of the funding will go to businesses in Greater Minnesota and half to businesses in the seven-county Twin Cities metro area, as required by law.

All Lives Matter

"All Lives Matter, including the lives of the unborn," said State Rep. Eric Lucero. "Every single person is created in the image of the Lord, and therefore every single life is precious!"

The US Supreme Court this week struck down a Louisiana law that would have required those performing abortions to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. The intent of the Louisiana’s “Unsafe Abortion Protection Act” was to hold abortionists to the same standard as physicians in outpatient surgery settings ensuring continuity of care in the event of complications. The 5-4 ruling is a detriment to the safety of women and certainly to the human lives still in the womb. The Supreme Court’s ruling is a failure to the people of Louisiana, to the people of Minnesota, and to people across our country.

The US Supreme Court this week ruled states cannot exclude private religious schools from programs or funding offered to non-religious education institutions. This is a major victory for religious liberty and choice in education. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote, “A State need not subsidize private education. But once a State decides to do so, it cannot disqualify some private schools solely because they are religious.”
