The JCRC decorated a room in the American Swedish Institute this year which included a brilliant blue menorah for Hanukkah.

Dear Neighbor,

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and wonderful New Year to you and your loved ones!

This is a very special time every year for both Christians and Jews but this year is just a little more special. Because Jewish tradition follows the lunar calendar, the dates of the eight-day Hanukkah Festival change slightly from year to year. This year, however, both Christmas Eve and the beginning of Hanukkah line up to be celebrated on the same day (tomorrow).

Christmas is the Christian celebration of the birth of Christ in Bethlehem and Hanukkah is the Jewish Festival of Lights in remembrance of the rededication of the second Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. This weekend is perfect to celebrate America’s Judeo/Christian foundation and to join others in committing to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

If you are traveling over the holiday season please have a safe journey!

The Legislature convenes back into session just after the holidays on Jan. 3. I'm looking forward to continuing the hard work of fighting for the values and priorities of our great communities. If there is anything I may be able to assist you with or you would like to pass your feedback onto me, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you again and have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and wonderful New Year!
