Dear Neighbor,

I hope you are having a great summer spending time with friends and family and taking advantage of the many recreational activities our great state has to offer!  I’ve been spending time meeting with many residents, business owners, and community leaders and attending local events all around our community. Meeting with residents and hearing your thoughts on the issues is the most enjoyable part of being your State Representative!

SPECIAL SESSION UPDATE

If you recall, Gov. Dayton vetoed the tax cut bill passed during the regular session thus denying much-needed tax relief to hard working Minnesota families and businesses all across our state, and the Senate Democrat majority broke its word on the agreed-upon bonding bill language by adding an amendment to include wasteful funding of South West Light Rail. Legislative leaders in the House and Senate have been meeting with the governor negotiating a potential special session to resurrect the tax cut bill and the bonding bill. As of right now, it appears a special session may take place in the second half of August.

SUPPORTING LAW ENFORCEMENT

Our community in House District 30B is served by dedicated and hard working professionals of three law enforcement agencies:

• Wright County Sheriff Department

• Hennepin County Sheriff Department

• City of Dayton Police Department

The men and women in law enforcement face an incredibly dangerous and challenging job. Our community is so grateful for our law enforcement professionals who work so hard each and every day to bravely protect and serve our community. The words and actions of a tiny number of people do not represent the overwhelming majority of us who grieve for those who’ve lost their lives and pray for an end to the senseless violence that has resulted in loss of life for law enforcement and civilians alike. All lives matter and the men and women in law enforcement have our community’s deepest respect, gratitude, and support. Without our law enforcement professionals our community would be less safe. May the Lord protect the brave men and women in law enforcement.

60-DAY DEADLINE

Today marks 60 days from adjournment of the regular 2016 legislative session. Per the MN Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board, this means legislators are prohibited from sending mass communications (including email updates such as this) after today until after the November election. The exception may be if a special session were to take place.

Even though I’m prohibited from mass communications until November, I’m still corresponding with constituents 1-on-1. Therefore, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or are seeking assistance on an individual basis. Please call my office at (651) 296-1534 or email me at Rep.Eric.Lucero@House.MN.

Thank you again for the honor and privilege of serving as your State Representative. Have a great remainder of summer if I don’t bump into you!

Sincerely,

Rep. Eric Lucero

State Representative
District 30B
Albertville, Hanover, Otsego, Saint Michael, and the Wright County portion of Dayton
