RELEASE: Rep. Koznick Bill Passes Committee

Wednesday, March 16, 2016

ST. PAUL, MN – Rep. Jon Koznick, R-Lakeville, recently introduced a bill, HF2956, to assist the Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA) in better representing area residents. The bill creates an appointed position on the CDA Board for a resident of a federally funded public housing unit. HF2956 was heard and passed from the Government Operations and Elections Policy Committee on Tuesday, March 15.

“This legislation would give a greater voice to Dakota County residents living in one of our 300 federally funded public housing units,” said Koznick. “It also streamlines the process to meet federal law requirements and clears up unnecessary language in Minnesota statute.”

The bill is a bipartisan effort. Rep. Rick Hansen, DFL-South St. Paul, is a co-author in the House, while Senator Greg Clausen, DFL-Apple Valley, is the chief author in the Senate.

“This bill supports the Dakota County Community Development Agency and their efforts to provide affordable workforce housing,” said Koznick.
