RELEASE: Rep. Koznick Statement on Sen. Thompson Retirement

Tuesday, January 5, 2016

LAKEVILLE, MN—On Tuesday, Senator Dave Thompson, R-Lakeville, announced he would not seek re-election in Senate District 58 to pursue a new career promotion.

“Throughout my years being involved in the community, Sen. Thompson has become a close friend, almost like a brother.” said Rep. Jon Koznick, R-Lakeville. “During my first term in office, he has been an important mentor to me personally and a leader at the Capitol.”

First elected in 2010, Thompson will complete his term before he and his family relocate to North Carolina.

“Our state, and especially our area, will miss Sen. Thompson’s articulate, conservative voice in St. Paul,” said Koznick. “I’m personally thankful for his many contributions to SD58, and for always fighting for our community. I am proud of Sen. Thompson’s service and the manner in which he advocates for his and our district’s principles. The state of Minnesota is a better place because of his leadership. Dave has worked hard and sacrificed a lot. I wish Sen. Thompson, his wife Rhonda, and their family all the best.”
