Rep. Brian Daniels Releases Statement on the Passage of House File 6

St. Paul- State Representative Brian Daniels, R-Faribault, issued the following statement following the passage of House File 6, which conforms Minnesota tax code to federal changes that have occurred since 2013 as it pertains to items being filed for 2014. The bill includes deductions for higher education tuition, educator classroom expenses, and mortgage insurance premiums. In total, House File 6 provides $19.9 million dollars in immediate tax relief to Minnesota taxpayers and businesses.

“I’m happy that the first bill passed by the new House Republican Majority will bring immediate tax relief of almost $20 million dollars to hard working taxpayers and businesses here in Minnesota,” said Daniels. “Minnesotans pay enough already and I am glad that we are starting off the 2015 session on a bipartisan note that will allow families to keep more of their hard-earned money.”

The bill passed the House with unanimous bipartisan support on a vote of 129-0. A similar bill is currently in the Senate and could be passed as soon as next week.
