RELEASE: Rep. Considine encourages Mankato-area residents to attend free COVID-19 testing events this week

Tuesday, September 1, 2020

MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is partnering with local organizations to host a pair of free COVID-19 testing events at Minnesota State University, Mankato this Wednesday and Thursday. Testing will be available at MSU’s Myers Field House from noon – 7 p.m. each day.

Rep. Jack Considine (DFL – Mankato) encourages residents to take advantage of the opportunity.

“While we’re all doing our part to get beyond this pandemic, unfortunately, COVID-19 cases continue to trend upward in Minnesota. Increased testing, complemented by effective contact tracing and isolation, can help prevent it from spreading,” Rep. Considine said. “With a new school year upon us, it’s a critical time to determine how widespread COVID-19 is throughout our community. I hope residents will get tested not just for their own peace of mind, but to help public health professionals determine the next steps to combat the virus.”

The testing is available free of charge for anyone – with or without symptoms – and no insurance is required to participate. To keep wait times short, attendees are asked to schedule an appointment online at www.primarybio.com/r/blueearth. Free parking is available across from the field house in Lot 7 of the MSU campus. MDH has a video available on its YouTube channel to prepare attendees for what they can expect.

For those unable to attend, a statewide map of testing locations is available on the state’s COVID-19 response webpage.
