Considine, House DFLers Unveil “Greater Minnesota for All” Agenda

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

St. Paul, Minn. – Rep. Jack Considine (DFL – Mankato) joined DFL members of the Minnesota House from all over the state today to launch a “Greater Minnesota for All” agenda today. The agenda calls on the 2016 legislature to build a stronger economic future in greater Minnesota with investments in transportation, job creation and property tax relief.

“This year we have a tremendous opportunity to deliver real results for Minnesotans, and finish a great deal of important work that went unfinished in 2015,” Considine said. “Our roads and bridges continue to deteriorate, and we need to stop being penny wise and pound foolish on this issue. The longer we wait to make long-term investments in this infrastructure, the cost of these projects will inevitably become more expensive. Passing a comprehensive transportation package is a good deal for everyone, from families to businesses.”

The Greater Minnesota for All agenda also calls for, among other things, dollars targeted toward broadband improvements, focus on technical education and rural job training, increased local government aid and county program aid, and targeted property tax relief for farmers and seniors.

“The economy has certainly recovered, but this has not been felt by everybody,” Considine said. “At its core, this proposal is providing the tools for a stronger, more secure economy in greater Minnesota. I’ve heard from constituents, including county commissioners, dairy farmers, and many others about each pillar of this plan, and I believe this will truly provide the opportunities that folks in greater Minnesota need to be on a level playing field. I’m committed to working across the aisle to deliver on these priorities.”
