RELEASE: Baker Takes Oath of Office, Announces Committee Assignments for 2023-2024 Legislative Session

Tuesday, January 3, 2023

St. Paul, MN– Minnesota’s 2023 Legislative Session officially began January 3rd as Assistant Minority Leader Rep. Dave Baker, R-Willmar, and 133 other state representatives took the oath of office during a ceremony at the State Capitol in St. Paul.

“It is an honor to return to St. Paul and represent the amazing people of Kandiyohi County,” Baker said. “This year, my top priorities are to get our tax system fixed including the elimination of Social Security taxes for retirees and lowering income and property taxes while making sure that government can still provide necessary services for Minnesotans. I will also be focused on workforce issues and policies—exploring ways we can help job creators find employees while cutting back on mandates that often drive costs.”

Most of Rep. Baker’s work during the first months of session will take place in House committees. For the 2023-2024 legislative biennium, Baker will serve as the Republican-lead on the Workforce Development Finance and Policy Committee. He has also been assigned to both the Human Services Policy Committee and the Human Services Finance Committee.
