Dear Friends,

On Wednesday the House unveiled a series of proposals that will increase broadband access to underserved and unserved areas throughout Minnesota. The proposals total $35 million including $7 million dedicated to improving broadband access for Minnesota students through new, innovative grant programs.

Along with broadband education funding, we also proposed an additional $28 million for rural broadband expansion. Combined with federal Connect America Funds, Minnesotans will see a historic broadband infrastructure investment of over $100 million next year alone. The funding focuses on unserved and underserved areas, as well as areas with larger numbers of low-income households.

On Monday, Lieutenant Governor Tina Smith will be in Willmar to discuss broadband expansion opportunities. I am looking forward to meeting with her continuing this important discussion.

Staying in Touch

Things are coming together quickly at the capitol as we have a little over a month until adjournment. There is still a lot to accomplish and I continue to fight for the issues that matter most to our district. Thank you to the countless number of individuals that have taken the time to contact me, your input is invaluable.

I enjoyed meeting today with nurses and staff with Divine Home Health care and I enjoyed seeing many folks at the Life Connections event at the civic center!=

The CCS silent auction and family carnival will be held this Saturday from 10:00 to 1:00 at CCS in Willmar. I encourage you to attend this great family event.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the wonderful weather!
