Dear Friends,

I hope the first few weeks of the school year are going well. I've been staying busy meeting with a number of folks and look forward to starting my teacher's lounge visits to talk with teachers directly about their priorities for this school year and changes they'd like us to look at. Last night I had the chance to meet with the Minnesota School Board Association in Willmar and discuss their thoughts on the upcoming session and education issues they'd like to see addressed. I'm looking forward to visiting Ms Akerson's 4th grader at Kennedy Elementary this coming week. We are showing photos of the capital renovations and what's it's like to be their Representative. I can't wait!

I had a great time at the great Minnesota get-together a couple weeks back and want to thank Faith, Hope, and Grace from Pennock who came to visit the House of Reps booth.

Last week I met with students participating in the Kandiyohi County CEO program, which helps students who are interested in business and being entrepreneurs. They are a great group of hardworking kids who I expect to see doing great things down the line!

Lots of great events this weekend including the Waffle Feed Day in Willmar for the Willmar Noon Lions (more details at http://www.willmarnoonlions.org/) as well as the "Out of the Darkness Walk" at Robbins Island Saturday morning at 9AM. I hope to see many people there supporting individuals and families that may have lost loved ones to depression or suicide and the need for better awareness of this mental health issue. More details on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/willmaroutofthedarknesscommunitywalk.

Call or email me any time—my door is always open! rep.dave.baker@house.mn or call 651-296-6206.

Have a great weekend,
