Legislative Update from Rep. Jeff Backer

Friday, March 3, 2023

Dear Neighbors,

This week, we received news that the state's budget surplus remains unchanged and still stands at $17.5 billion. A surplus of this size is proof that you are being overtaxed.

It's time to stop the crazy spending and give the surplus back to you, the taxpayers of Minnesota.

Just when you think Democrats have run out of bad ideas, they come up with something new!

Recently, House Democrats in Minnesota introduced a bill that would ban gas-powered yard equipment including lawnmowers, chainsaws, weed whackers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, and more.

When will the insanity end? Click here or the photo below to watch a brief video I recorded on this topic.

Constituent Visits

It was a busy week in St. Paul with lots of constituents visiting the capitol!

Erin Smith with the Viking Library System, local FFA students, Jeanette Hollingsworth and Steve Smith with the Fergus Falls YMCA, and folks from the Farm Bureau all visited.

Thanks for visiting!
