BACKER REMINDS CONSTITUENTS OF MNDOT DITCH MOWING MEETING

Monday, November 13, 2017

ST. PAUL – Browns Valley Republican Rep. Jeff Backer is reminding people of a public meeting that will take place Wednesday in Morris to discuss state ditch-mowing policies.

This meeting is one in a series taking place throughout the state to discuss numerous concerns which arose in the wake of MnDOT last year unveiling plans to alter its ditch-mowing policies. The Legislature successfully authored a bill placing a moratorium on new mowing rules along state highways until May of 2018, allowing for further discussion.

“Proposed permitting changes for mowing and baling in ditches along Minnesota’s state roadways have created numerous concerns among citizens,” Backer said. “It is extremely important for people to attend this meeting to participate in the process of determining the best course on this issue. This is a great opportunity for people in our area to have direct input to help MnDOT understand this issue from a property owner’s perspective.”

The Morris meeting will take place 6 to 8 p.m. this Wednesday at the University of Minnesota Morris Conference Room Science Auditorium, 600 E. 4th St.

Backer encourages anyone with questions to contact him at (701) 361-1909.
