This session, the dairy community came to the Legislature with a problem, and as legislators we came together with a bipartisan solution. I am proud to announce the roll out of the new Dairy Assistance, Investment and Relief Initiative (DAIRI) program, which will provide financial assistance for small- to medium-size dairy producers who enroll for five years of coverage in the USDA Farm Service Agency’s Dairy Margin Coverage program. Through two of the omnibus bills during special session last month, we provided a total of $8 million for DAIRI to ensure that our dairy farmers can get financial assistance and continue the work that is so important to our state.
