Capitol Update from Rep. Tama Theis

Friday, May 10, 2019

Dear Neighbors,

Here’s the latest news from the Capitol:

It has been a quiet week in St. Paul. We’ve had session to pass several small bills, and yesterday there was a joint session of the House and Senate to elect Regents to the University of Minnesota. While the Regent election happened later in session than it normally does, I’m glad we were finally able to do our legislative duty on electing Regents.

Until leadership has agreed on budget targets for each conference committee, it will continue to be fairly quiet at the Capitol. I hope leadership can make meaningful progress soon, without continuing to push $12 billion in proposed DFL tax increases.

This Sunday is Mother’s Day! I look forward to celebrating with my family, and I hope you have time to spend with your loved ones as well.

It’s an honor to be your voice at the Capitol. Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Tama
