Capitol Update from Rep. Tama Theis

Friday, April 5, 2019

Dear Neighbors,

Here’s the latest news from the Capitol:

With the swearing-in of our newest member, Nathan Nelson from District 11B, we had some committee membership changes. I was added to the Environment and Natural Resources Finance Division, and was able to attend several meetings this week before the omnibus bill was voted out yesterday.

The Housing Committee wrapped up the omnibus bill on Wednesday. Even though the committee’s work is done for the year, I plan to continue working in the interim to figure out why Minnesota’s housing is so much more expensive than surrounding states, and what we can do about it. I hope the committee will have more of those conversations next year so we can address this problem.

I had some great visits with constituents this week. Below is a photo of my visit with Jane Olsen and Kristy Modrow with the Teamsters, and I also visited with Stearns County Commissioner Steve Notch about broadband. I always enjoy meeting with constituents!

It’s an honor to be your voice at the Capitol. Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Tama
