Dear Neighbors,
Here's a look at what's been happening at the Capitol this week:
On Monday we passed HF 50, a bill to reduce distracted driving by requiring cell phones to be used in hands-free mode while driving. While I would prefer raising penalties for existing distracted driving offenses, I think this bill is a good way to continue the conversation on distracted driving. This will likely not be the final version since the Senate companion bill has several differences. I will continue to advocate for policies that will cut down on distracted driving.
We had puppies from the Animal Humane Society here this week, and I got to meet Jenny and James. They are available to be adopted, along with the rest of their litter! They are lab/cattle dog mixes and there were 6 of them. If you’re looking for a puppy, check out your local Animal Humane Society!
This week I got to visit with Joe Henry of Lake of the Woods and Scott Uttley of St. Cloud, for Hospitality Day at the Capitol!
Coming up next week, I have a bill hearing on HF 2281, a bill adding financial management to the continuing education requirement for residential building contractors, remodelers, and roofers. I look forward to presenting this important bill to help increase financial education related to residential construction businesses!
It's an honor to be your voice at the Capitol. Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Tama
