ST. PAUL – State Representative Tama Theis (R-St. Cloud) is sponsoring legislation that will create the Great River Children’s Museum in St. Cloud.
“We need a place where kids can go and be adventurous,” Theis said. “As the Granite City, St. Cloud has a wonderful history, and this museum will give boys and girls the chance to learn more about it while having fun.”
Theis’ bill would utilize funds that are dedicated from Minnesota’s Legacy Amendment to establish the Great River Children’s Museum. Under her plan, $250,000 in grants would be appropriated in fiscal year 2020 and $275,000 in fiscal year 2021 for regionally significant, interactive exhibits and outreach programs on arts and cultural heritage, including redesigning the gallery and developing donated property from Liberty Bank.
Theis’ legislation has been referred to the Minnesota House Legacy Finance Division.
