Legislative Update (January 15, 2016)

Friday, January 15, 2016

Dear neighbors,

Earlier this week, Speaker Kurt Daudt and Chair of the House Health and Human Services Reform Committee Tara Mack announced the formation of a Licensing Subcommittee, of which I am honored to have been asked to chair.

Licensing is an important issue that impacts thousands of Minnesotans and Minnesota businesses ranging from licensed therapists and health providers to tattoo parlors.

With the number of bills that will go through the Health and Human Services Reform Committee this coming session, the best approach for licensing issues is to form this subcommittee. Lawmakers want to ensure that we allow enough time for public input, and to give each bill the attention necessary to make an informed decision.

This subcommittee will allow the legislature to devote more time and energy to examining licensing laws, and help us make sure licensing issues are given the consideration they deserve. I look forward to beginning this important work in coming weeks.

As always, you can reach me at rep.nick.zerwas@house.mn. To contact me by phone, call (651) 296-4237. Mail can be sent to Rep. Nick Zerwas, 433 State Office Building, 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, Minnesota 55155.

Sincerely,

Nick
