REP. PETERSBURG NAMED TO IMPORTANT TRANSPORTATION TASK FORCES

Wednesday, September 1, 2021

ST. PAUL – Recently, State Representative John Petersburg (R-Waseca) began service on a pair of transportation-related task forces in the Minnesota Legislature.

Petersburg, who serves as the Republican Lead on the Minnesota House Transportation Policy and Finance Committee, said he is up for the challenge.

“Beginning with an improved Highway 14, transportation issues have always been among my top Capitol priorities,” Petersburg said. “It’s an honor to serve on these task forces and I look forward to bringing a voice from Greater Minnesota to the debate.”

Petersburg was recently elected co-chair of the Transportation Dedicated Funds Expenditure Task Force. This group reviews and make recommendations regarding the permissible uses of expenditures from the trunk highway fund and the highway user tax distribution fund.

Petersburg was also appointed to the Salvage Title Task Force. Its purpose is to review the parameters around when a salvage title is required. Petersburg said the issue revolves around cars being sold without disclosure that may have been in floods or major loss, creating a possibility of total failure of the car without the buyer knowing the vehicle’s history.

The first meeting of the Salvage Title Task Force will be September 1.
