St. Paul, Minn. – Tonight, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton gave his 2016 State of the State Address. Afterward, state Rep. Jason Metsa (DFL – Virginia) delivered the following statement:
“Tonight, Gov. Dayton again showed his commitment to working families in the state of Minnesota, and I thank him for his leadership in insisting we extend unemployment benefits for out of work folks on the Iron Range as soon as we possibly can. What we saw yesterday was an attempt by the GOP to trade workers’ hardship for political chips. Never in our state’s history has assistance for a group of Minnesotans in such a situation been held for a special interest handout, like a tax cut for big corporations.
“This course of action is unacceptable to me and my constituents. I hope my friends on the other side of the aisle will listen to Gov. Dayton and join us to promptly deliver this help.”
