Representative Ben Lien will not seek re-election in 2020

Thursday, January 30, 2020

St. Paul, MN – State Representative Ben Lien (DFL – Moorhead) announced today that he will not seek re-election in 2020.

“It’s been an incredible honor and opportunity of a lifetime to represent my hometown in the Minnesota House.  I thank my family and friends who were behind me from day one when I decided to run for this seat.  I thank my supporters and the people of Moorhead for putting their trust in me to get the job done these last 8 years.

“I’m very proud of my accomplishments for Moorhead’s businesses, schools and infrastructure, as well as strengthening mental health parity last year.  I’m also proud of the work my caucus did to get the state’s budget on track, pass marriage equality, and fund early childhood education.  I look forward to spending my final session working on bonding projects that will make Moorhead, Clay County and Minnesota better for all.”

Rep. Lien has served as the state representative for Minnesota’s House District 4A since his first election in 2012.  He currently serves on the Higher Education, Tax, and Greater Minnesota Jobs Committees, and the Local Government Subcommittee.  He served on the Property Tax Committee from 2013 to 2018.
