RELEASE: Kresha encourages applications for broadband grants

Wednesday, September 24, 2014
St. Paul, MN—Rep. Ron Kresha, R-Little Falls, is encouraging cities, counties, businesses, non-profits, and other eligible applicants to consider applying for a grant of up to $5 million to continue the expansion of Minnesota's broadband infrastructure. Applications must be received by Tuesday, October 28th, and late proposals will not be considered. The grants are available as a part of a $20 million Border-to-Border Broadband Development Grant Program signed into law in May of this year.

"Applying for a broadband grant is yet another opportunity to expand broadband access to the parts of the state that need it most," Kresha said. "I hope eligible applicants will take advantage of this opportunity to help bring broadband to our community."

According to a press release from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), eligible applicants include "incorporated businesses and partnerships, political subdivisions, Indian tribes, Minnesota non-profits, cooperative associations and limited liability corporations."

Full details and application materials can be found on the DEED website at http://mn.gov/deed/about/contracts/.

Kresha encouraged anyone with questions to contact his office by calling 651-296-4247 or by email at rep.ron.kresha@house.mn.
