News from Representative Kresha 3-15-19

Friday, March 15, 2019

Neighbors,

With the large amount of snow and other winter weather lately, many farm buildings across the state have had their roofs cave in due to the heavy snow and ice that has accumulated on them. Yesterday during session we unanimously passed SF 2225, a bill that expands the agriculture disaster relief program to farm buildings damaged by the weight of snow, sleet, and ice. This was an important change, and it passed the House unanimously.

My daughter Adrienne was at the Capitol this past week with the High School Page Program. This is a great program that gives participants a better understanding of how our state government works. The High School Page Program is open to Minnesota high school juniors, and participants are selected in the fall of each year. If any current sophomores are interested in joining the High School Page Program, please contact your school to find out how to apply!

Here are some photos from my daughter’s week as a High School Page:

This week I’ve been working on ways to help our local fishing museum expand. The Minnesota Fishing Museum is an important part of our fishing heritage in Minnesota, and has attracted a lot of attention. I’m looking for ways to help them continue that progress – more information to come soon!

My bill to expand broadband in Greater Minnesota passed committee this week. This bill will help connectivity in places like Motley and Burtrum, as well as many other communities across the state.

It’s Fish Fry Friday – I’d encourage everyone to find a local fish fry! A few that I’ve heard about lately are at St. Joseph Parish in Pierz, today from 4-7pm, and the Kiwanis Fish Fry at the VFW in Little Falls, from 4:30-7.

Until next time,

Ron
