Well, I am just going to say it! What a beautiful weekend and if you are reading this update instead of playing in the dirt, enjoying a high school sports event or just being outside, please stop and read this when it is raining.
But if you must read…here is this week's update.
The education conference committee began their work this last week and I am fortunate to be one of the members. All of us realize the importance of education and we are working towards an education budget that fits in the overall constraints of a health coverage crisis, transportation needs, broadband and child protection. Budget conversations are not easy and there are way more requests than resources available. But I continue to be optimistic on the outcome.
We are in the process of putting the Child Protection Task Force back into the schedule. As you may know, this is a priority for me and there is a lot of work to be done. I am working on getting some training funds for our social workers and attracting new workers into the social work field.
One of the best parts of the spring session is the visits from schools. I was visited this week by the Royalton sixth graders and also by the Little Falls Mary of Lourdes sixth graders. Below is a picture of the Mary of Lourdes students who joined me in the House chambers.
I hope you have a blessed weekend and enjoy the weather with your family.
