Legislative Update

Friday, March 8, 2019

Dear Neighbors,

It has been another busy week at the Capitol.

Today in the Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Finance and Policy Division, we heard several bills dealing with law enforcement and mental health. As a former law enforcement officer, I strongly believe that our Department of Human Services needs to work with law enforcement to remove some of the barriers involving mental health so law enforcement is able to help those in crisis. These bills are a good start, but more work is needed. I look forward to continuing to work on this important issue going forward.

Yesterday, North Branch High School played St. Cloud Cathedral in the Class A boys hockey quarterfinal. Unfortunately the game didn’t have the ending we all hoped for, but I want to congratulate the Vikings on an outstanding season.

North Branch High School also sent five wrestlers to the state tournament last weekend. All five were outstanding competitors – congratulations, you’ve made our community proud!
