Saint Paul, MINN— On Tuesday, December 20, 2016, House Republicans unveiled committee assignments for the 2017-2018 legislative sessions. Representative Brian Johnson was named Vice-Chair of the Public Safety and Security Policy and Finance Committee, a role which he also served last biennium. In addition, Johnson is set to serve on the Health and Human Services Finance and Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance committees.

“The Public Safety and Security Policy and Finance Committee has the important job of passing laws that protect citizens, victims and members of law enforcement, and I look forward to continuing our work from last biennium to implement commonsense policies that work for Minnesota,” said Rep. Johnson. “It’s an honor to have been named Vice-Chair of this committee for a second term, and I pledge to continue advocating for policies that both ensure public safety and protect our individual liberties.”

Johnson was recently elected to his third term in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Before serving in the legislature, he spent 27 years in law enforcement including 17 years as a Deputy with the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office.
