Hertaus joins key House committee

Tuesday, February 20, 2018

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Jerry Hertaus, R-Greenfield, on Tuesday officially accepted an appointment to serve a key House panel which plays a major role in determining state spending and taxes.

Hertaus, who is in his third term, received the appointment to join the House Ways and Means Committee from House Speaker Kurt Daudt, R-Crown. Hertaus is filling a position vacated by Rep. Tony Cornish, R-Vernon Center, who recently resigned from the House.

“It is an honor to have been assigned to this important committee,” Hertaus said. “My current positions as vice chairman of the committee on property taxes and member of the full Taxes Committee complement this important finance function that the Ways and Means Committee serves.”

The appointment coincides with Tuesday’s start of the 2018 legislative session and extends through the remainder of the 90th Minnesota Legislature, which will be in place until early January.
