SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Today, the Minnesota House of Representatives considered the House Jobs and Local Projects Plan, which would invest over $2.5 billion in important infrastructure improvements and job-creating local projects across the state. Not having received the constitutionally required three-fifths supermajority vote, however, the bill did not pass.
“The House Jobs and Local Projects Plan is a robust, balanced bill that creates good-paying jobs and strengthens communities across Minnesota,” said Rep. Laurie Halverson (DFL – Eagan), who voted for the legislation. “I am disappointed that Republicans chose to vote against this plan today. Delaying local projects will jeopardize the safety of Minnesotans and increase costs long-term. I will continue fighting for critical investments that our communities need to thrive now and into the future.”
The plan includes several projects that are important to Eagan and the surrounding communities. It provides funding to help complete the reconstruction of Diffley Road in Eagan; enhance pedestrian, bicycle, and commuter safety and improve the regional greenway system in Dakota County; support Safe Routes to School infrastructure; and more.
