Rep. Mike Freiberg Celebrates New Minnesota State Flag
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Today, after weeks of deliberation and thousands of design submissions, the State Emblems Redesign Commission made its final selection for the new Minnesota state flag. Earlier this year, Rep. Mike Freiberg (DFL – Golden Valley) authored the law that formed the commission and set into motion the process of selecting a new state flag and updated state seal.
“Thank you to the Minnesotans who served on the commission, submitted flag designs, and gave input during the flag and seal redesign process. I’m incredibly excited to have a state flag and seal that is more representative of all Minnesotans. I’m looking forward to seeing it fly at the Capitol this spring.”
The new designs will take effect on Statehood Day, May 11th.
