DFL BUDGET CUTS COULD DEVASTATE RURAL NURSING HOMES
ST. PAUL – State Representative Steve Green (R-Fosston) released the following statement on the House DFL majority’s plan to cut $26 million dollars next biennium from senior living and rural nursing homes:
“I’ve spoken with local hospitals and local nursing homes in our community. These proposed cuts from the House Democrats will be absolutely devastating to our rural care centers. Our nursing homes are already under-staffed. Cutting funding toward our most vulnerable while proposing to raise $2.6 billion in taxes just doesn’t make sense. That’s why I voted no on final passage of the House Health and Human Services omnibus bill.”
The Health and Human Services omnibus bill was passed by the House on a 70-64 vote.
“The total funding for the Health and Human Services omnibus bill $11 billion. I think we could have done better for our seniors,” said Green.
