Green sworn into House a fifth time

Tuesday, January 5, 2021

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Steve Green, R-Fosston, performed his fifth oath of office in the Minnesota House of Representatives Tuesday as the 92nd Legislature was installed at the Capitol.

Green was re-elected to the House in November and represents District 2B, including all of Mahnomen and portions of Becker, Clearwater, Hubbard, Otter Tail, and Wadena counties. He has been selected to serve as the leading Republican on the Legacy Division and also is a member of the Environment and Natural Resources Finance & Policy, and Property Tax Division committees.

“It is an honor to continue serving the people of District 2B and I am happy to be back at work at the Capitol,” Green said. “The Legislature’s top responsibility this session is to set a new two-year state budget. With only a modest budget shortfall, tax increases remain unnecessary, yet Democrats already have pledged to bring forward significant tax hikes and I will continue to oppose them. We also must bring an end to the governor’s unilateral powers and re-open our businesses that have been crushed under his restrictions.”

Green said he welcomes input from local citizens throughout the year, particularly during the legislative session. He can be reached by emailing rep.steve.green@house.mn or by calling (651) 296-9918. Green also provides periodic email updates and citizens can sign up to receive them at his official state website: www.house.mn/2B

“I urge citizens to be engaged as decisions are being made in the Legislature this session,” Green said. “Much is at stake this session and I am committed to doing all I can to advocate for the people of our area and re-opening our state.”

As a COVID-19 precaution, Tuesday’s swearing-in ceremony was conducted with many House members participating remotely from their legislative offices instead of in the chamber as is tradition.
