Statement from Rep. Steve Green re: State economic forecast

Thursday, December 5, 2019

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Steve Green, R-Fosston, issued the following statement regarding Minnesota Management & Budget on Thursday indicating the state has a $1.3 billion budget surplus projected for 2020-21:

“Republican-led tax cuts on state the federal levels are spurring economic growth and continue to increase revenue,” Green said. “The bottom line is this is not $1.3 billion in free money for the state. This money belongs to the taxpayers and should go back to them. For starters, the surplus is more than enough to fully repeal the Democrats’ $875 million health care tax. And, to state what should be obvious, tax increases of any kind should be off the table in the 2020 session.”
