Legislative Update (7-22-16)

Friday, July 22, 2016

Dear Neighbors,

Summer in Minnesota generally means vacations, spending time with family and enjoying all the state has to offer. Unfortunately, this year has brought about scenes of civil unrest as statements from political leaders have increased tensions across the country. Minnesota unfortunately has been no exception. At a time when elected officials should be calling for peace and reconciliation the Governor made reckless comments that divide. This is unacceptable behavior for a representative of the people.
Recent events in Dallas and Baton Rouge are stark examples of the dangers faced by our sons and daughters in law enforcement. As I speak with folks across the state the message is loud and clear—people are frustrated with government’s lack of support for law enforcement.
A top priority for the 2017 legislative session should be giving law enforcement the tools they need to protect the citizens of Minnesota and themselves. I intend to make that a priority.
