Last week, Governor Dayton released details of his supplemental budget proposal. In his proposal, the governor seeks to spend an additional $581 million.
While I am sure there are portions of the governor’s proposal that are worthy of consideration, I am concerned because he has included a new gas tax in his plans.
This is the same gas tax that was proposed last year that would raise prices a minimum of 16 cents a gallon. This would effectively be a $900 million tax increase on ALL Minnesotans.
Simply put, this is irresponsible.
Instead of looking for new ways to keep money out of the pocketbooks of Minnesota families, let’s focus on ways to grow our economy and the budgets of Minnesotans.
