Exciting Start to First Week of Session

Thursday, January 8, 2015

ST. PAUL – Minnesota state legislators gathered at the Capitol on Tuesday for the first day of the 2015 legislative session.  The eighty-ninth session of the legislature started with the swearing in of all the Members of the Minnesota House of Representatives, including Rep. Raymond Dehn (DFL – Minneapolis).

Rep. Dehn remarked, “It’s exciting to start another term in the House.  Being sworn in is always amazing and it’s a thrill seeing all of the new and returning members with their families.”

Rep. Dehn, an architect who specializes in sustainability, is starting his second term in the Minnesota House this week.  Speaker Daudt appointed him to four committees: Capital Investment, Commerce and Regulatory Reform, Ethics, and Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance.

Rep. Dehn said, “These are all committees I’m glad to serve on.  I’m looking forward to making sure my constituents, and all of Minnesota, are well served.”

Rep. Dehn will focus on the issues important to his constituents: ensuring that all Minnesotans have the opportunity for good-paying jobs, affordable housing, and building on the historic investments in education like all-day kindergarten.  In addition, protecting environmental assets in Minnesota like the Mississippi River, and improving transit and transportation investments.
