Rep. Albright Statement on COVID-19 Vaccine Website

Rep. Tony Albright, R-Prior Lake, Republican Lead on the House Human Services Finance and Policy Committee, released the following statement after the Minnesota Department of Health’s COVID-19 “Find My Vaccine” website crashed shortly after its launch on Tuesday:

“The “Find My Vaccine” website crash is the latest in a long line of tech failures by the state. Knowing the high demand for vaccines, especially from seniors, Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) should have better prepared to be inundated by those rushing to get an appointment or find out more information.

“Vaccinating Minnesotans, especially the most vulnerable, is critical to reopening our businesses and schools. We need to be prioritizing the vaccinations of those aged 65 and older in order to return to normalcy. Children need to be able to go to school and hug their grandparents afterwards without fear of infecting.

“We need to look to other states, like Arizona, where they are able to handle 118,000 appointments and schedule vaccinations more than a week at a time. Moving forward, we need to make sure systems in place to facilitate the COVID-19 vaccination are prepared to help, not frustrate Minnesotans.”
