RELEASE: Rep. Moran cheers agreement between St. Paul teachers, school district avoiding strike

Tuesday, March 8, 2022

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Rep. Rena Moran (DFL – Saint Paul) issued the following statement regarding the tentative agreement Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) and the Saint Paul Federation of Educators (SPFE) reached Monday evening:

“I’m excited Saint Paul teachers and the school district were able to reach an agreement to ensure our schools stay open and kids can remain in the classroom. Students, teachers, and families have experienced a great deal of challenges the last couple of years, and during a time of such deep uncertainty, avoiding a strike means avoiding another set of difficulties for our community. Delivering critical resources to reduce class sizes, increasing mental health supports, improving opportunities for underpaid school staff to achieve economic security, and creating a welcoming and inclusive culture are all things worth fighting for. This announcement of a deal is certainly good news right now, but we have much more work to do at the State Capitol to make bold investments in solutions so all students in Saint Paul and across the state can have the world-class education they deserve.”
