Dear Neighbors,
Amir Locke should still be alive. He should still be with us. The community deserves answers and deserves justice. So many of us are not okay, and the killing of Amir Locke is another traumatic blow to a community that is desperately in need of reconciliation and healing. Our hearts break for the friends and family of Amir Locke and all the mothers of Black men and boys that feel this trauma-on-trauma.
My United Black Legislative Caucus colleagues and I are hosting a community healing space on Zoom tonight at 7pm. We invite you to join us for this gathering which can be a place for silence, for expressions of grief, or for discussion. You can RSVP here and the event will also stream live on my Facebook page.
