RELEASE: Rep. Moran appointed to National Foundation for Women Legislators leadership

Friday, May 17, 2019

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Rep. Rena Moran (DFL – Saint Paul) was recently appointed to serve as the 2019 Minnesota State Director for the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL). NFWL is the nation’s oldest non-partisan organization addressing the needs of elected women at all levels of government.

“I am honored and excited to be appointed to this leadership position within NFWL, and I can’t wait to help my colleagues in Minnesota learn more about this great organization and its work,” said Rep. Moran. “We’ve made some great strides getting more women to step up and seek elected office in Minnesota. In fact, our DFL caucus is very close to having gender parity. This opportunity with NFWL aligns perfectly with our mission to encourage more women to seek these leadership roles in our state.”

Elected women from across the country will gather in San Antonio Texas on November 18-21, for NFWL’s 2019 Annual Conference to identify effective solutions to some of the nation’s most timely and pressing issues. Fostering a non-partisan environment that encourages dialogue and the sharing of information and experiences, women leaders are able to build coalitions, share the concerns of their constituents, and identify out-of-the-box solutions to the most pressing issues facing their communities today.

“We are so proud Rep. Moran has accepted a leadership position in our Foundation,” said New Jersey Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso, NFWL’s 2019 Chair. “NFWL’s theme for 2019 is leadership, and Rep. Moran exemplifies this theme. She will play a key role in aiding women legislators in Minnesota as we continue to grow as an organization.”

Through annual educational and networking events, the National Foundation for Women Legislators supports elected women from all levels of governance. As a non-profit, non-partisan organization, NFWL does not take ideological positions on public policy issues, but rather serves as a forum for women legislators to be empowered through information and experience.
