Reps. Kiel and Fabian Encourage Residents to Attend Public Hearing in Thief River Falls on Line 3 Pipeline Replacement

Tuesday, September 19, 2017

ST. PAUL, MN—The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is holding a public hearing in Thief River Falls regarding the Enbridge Line 3 Pipeline Replacement Project on Tuesday, September 26. Rep. Deb Kiel, R-Crookston, and Rep. Dan Fabian, R-Roseau, are encouraging area residents to attend and share their input on this important local project as the PUC decides whether or not to grant the project a certificate of need and route permit.

“The decision on whether or not to replace the Line 3 pipeline will have a direct economic impact on Northwest Minnesota, and I encourage rural Minnesota residents to attend the public hearing and share your input,” said Rep. Kiel.

“This project has a wide array of support from locally elected officials and citizens in our area, and I hope folks will come and make their voices heard on this issue,” said Representative Fabian. “I believe pipelines are a very safe and effective way to transfer oil, and this is a common sense project that should be approved by the state.”

The aging pipeline was ordered replaced by the federal government and its construction will mean more than $3 billion in private investment, increase the safety of Minnesota's water, and thousands of good-paying jobs along the route.
