Legislative Update from Rep. Glenn Gruenhagen

Thursday, April 7, 2022

Dear Neighbors,

The third committee deadline in the House of Representatives is tomorrow, Friday. This means that House Democrats’ omnibus finance and policy bills will receive committee approval by the end of the day tomorrow.

Now that all their omnibus bills have been posted publicly and the math has been calculated, I can report to you that House Democrats have proposed to spend more than $21 to grow government for every $1 in tax cuts. This comes at a time when the state is sitting on more than $9 billion in budget surplus.

Inflation is at a 40-year high and all of us know that Minnesotans are being taxed too much. You, your family, and all Minnesotans deserve significant tax relief—the state’s surplus belongs to you after all.

Unfortunately, House Democrats simply can't help themselves as they are proposing to massively grow government despite a fully funded state budget at a time when we should be focused on reducing taxes for Minnesota families.

This is unacceptable and I will continue to fight for you and make sure that each Minnesotan gets the tax relief they deserve.
