Legislative Update from Rep. Glenn Gruenhagen

Friday, January 25, 2019

Dear Neighbors,

Earlier this week, I took part in the annual March for Life at the Capitol in St. Paul. I was proud to be joined by thousands of Minnesotans as we peacefully protested our state and nation’s abortion laws.

I have long been an advocate for the unborn and a proud member of the pro-life movement. As long as I am a member of the Minnesota House, I will continue to support policy measures that honor the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.

We are lucky to have a House Republican caucus that is unashamedly pro-life. I am thankful for the members that I have the honor to serve alongside that are dedicated to this important cause.

In addition to this important march, I signed onto a letter that was sent to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer this week that urges them to end the federal government shutdown. A number of my House Republican colleagues were co-signers on the letter.

Our message was simple; we urge both Pelosi and Schumer to work with President Trump and Congressional Republicans to secure our Southern border and to end the unnecessary standoff.

Minnesotans are hurting from the impacts of the shutdown; federal workers are missing paychecks, and the interruption of numerous funding streams threaten the operation of federally-funded services and programs.

Thankfully, we have taken steps to mitigate the impact of the shutdown, but the longer the shutdown drags on, the more painful the consequences will become.

Here’s to hoping the shutdown ends soon and our federal leaders can turn their attention to governing and securing our southern border.

That’s all for this week’s update. I urge you to contact me if you have any legislative questions, concerns, or ideas. I can be reached by phone at 651-296-4229 or via email at rep.glenn.gruenhagen@house.mn.

Thanks and have a good weekend,

Glenn
